Crafting Corner: Carrie & Claus Keychain Pattern

At first, I was a bit hesitant to share any of the Carrie & Claus patterns with you guys, since I had thoughts of selling some of the goods that I  made - which would include some of the patterns.  However, I was in a good mood tonight, and decided that I would share the pattern for one of my most-used Carrie & Claus items, my keychain.  It is made up very, very quickly in Dark Sage from Caron Simply Soft.  I hope you enjoy this pattern, but please do not use it for profit.  Thank you.

Materials:
  • Less than 1 skein Caron Simply Soft - Dark Sage
  • Size 8 Knitting needles
  • Cable needle
  • Tapestry needle
  • Key Ring (about 25mm)
Stitch Glossary

Instructions

    Row 2 (and all WS rows unless told otherwise): p1, k1, p8, k1, p1.

    Rows 4-50: Repeat Rows 2 and 3.

    Row 52: Cast off 4 sts, p4 (4 sts).
    Row 53: k across.
    Row 54: p across.
    Rows 55-62: Repeat Rows 53 and 54.
    Row 63: Cast off knitwise.
Finishing
Slip key ring onto thin part of keychain, then fold thin part in half to meet up with the beginning of the wider portion of the keychain. With a tapestry needle, sew the end of the thin portion to the beginning of the wide portion to secure key ring in place. Finally, fold the wide portion in half so wide ends are together, and sew ends together. You have a keychain!
