My little brother & I :) |
The boys started out great in the 200 Medley Relay, getting a State cut time...until one of the refs walked over to their lane, notifying them that not one, but two of their swimmers jumped off the starting blocks a little too early, disqualifying them from the race.
Then, it was on to the 50 Freestyle and 100 Freestyle, neither of which he qualified for the State meet in, but those are such tough races! They're over and done with so fast, that if one little part of your race goes wrong, you're completely out of it, and all of the guys were swimming their best. He did still manage to get 12th place in the 50 Freestyle, and medalled at 7th place in the 100 Freestyle.
At this point, my parents and I were a bit worried about my little brother, knowing he had his heart on going to the State swim meet again, after competing in all FOUR of his events the year before. All we could really do was pray for the best for him from the stands, though.
Finally, it came time for the 200 Freestyle Relay, my brother's last event of the meet. With the help of three of his teammates, they not only got a State cut time and 4th place, they also broke their own school record! It was so much fun to watch them up on the podium after that race, too. They were all smiles!
Now, we get to look forward to his last State Meet next Friday!
